Samuel Eto’o says he is the greatest African player, disagrees Diouf and Drogba claims,

One of the superlative soccer player Samuel Eto’o recently made a bold statement stating there was no player in Africa who has ever been better than himself in football.

However, A soccer Senegalese legend best known by name El Hadji Diouf had earlier boasted he was the best striker to have ever come out of Africa, but Eto’o who won the Africa Footballer of the year award four times, hit back saying he was the best. This happened after El Hadji Diouf made his statement.

The Cameroonian legend claimed he was the greatest African player ever while subtly aiming a dig at Ivorian international Didier Drogba as well.

“Even if my brother Diouf the last time, with an extra glass, got a little lost, there is no debate,” GOAL quoted Eto’o.

“None of them (Diouf and Drogba) can come and say that they were at my level or better. And it’s not the fact that I say it, it’s a fact, it’s something that is there. I wanted to be number one and I have been throughout my career,

” he added. Eto’o had a scintillating career during his playing days scoring 56 goals for the Cameroonian national football team in his 118 matches.

He won two African nations cup titles as well as the 2000 Olympic gold medal. Eto’o also played for big European teams like Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, real Mallorca, Everton and more.

Nevertheless, Other professionals in the game, however, begged to differ when it came to the question on the best Africa player. Former Liverpool defender Jim Beglin and ever Nigeria best player Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.

However, the 56-year-old who spent six seasons with the Merseyside outfit made this known during his Q&A session on Twitter tagged #ASKJimBeglin.
